Christy Schmitt

As the Small Business Manager for Union Bank of California, Christy Schmitt supports sales and delivery of small business products and services for the Bank’s retail branches. In addition, she oversees Bank’s Diverse Business Services, Alliance Partnerships, Outbound Sales Center and Retail Global Trade program.
Based in San Diego, Schmitt is also responsible for supporting the growth and development of the Bank’s small business portfolio, supports the Bank’s branch offices with small business product development, marketing efforts, training, and researching and developing segment-specific initiatives and promotions for small businesses. With more than 25 years of experience in the banking industry, Schmitt began her financial services career as a commercial loan officer at San Diego Trust and Savings Bank in 1981. In 1985, Schmitt joined California First (which later became Union Bank and ultimately Union Bank of California) as an assistant manager/business relationship officer.
In 1988, Schmitt was promoted to vice president and branch manager. Between 1991 and 1998, she honed her small business segment expertise by serving successive roles as SBA manager, small business banking regional manager and small business marketing officer. In 1998, Schmitt was named senior vice president and the bank’s Small Business Manager.
She currently serves on several committees that include the Consumer Banker Association (CBA) Small Business Council. Schmitt has a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of San Diego and a Masters in Finance from National University. Schmitt also graduated with honors from Pacific Coast Banking School.
